  1. Community Event - Fire Department Open House

    October 4, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Fire Department (Headquarters)

    The Westmont Fire Department will be participating in a number of events in recognition of National Fire Prevention Week. The Westmont Fire Department will host an Open House on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at its Headquarters Station, 6015 S. Cass Ave. This year’s theme is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives. Test Yours Every Month!” The department has several fun and educational activities planned for the public. Some activities include equipment demonstrations, kids jump house, children’s fire safety house, and raffle prizes. Freddy the Fire Truck and Sparky the Fire Dog will also be present to meet and greet visitors. For more information contact the Fire Department at 630-981-6400.

  4. Community Event - Silent Parade

    October 10, 7:00 PM - 7:45 PM @ Parade begins at Garfield Street & Chicago Avenue in Hinsdale and proceeds west on Chicago Avenue/Naperville Road through Clarendon Hills, Westmont, Downers Grove and ends in Lisle.

    On Friday, October 10, 2014, the Fire Department will participate in the 20th Annual Silent Parade. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. from Garfield Street and Chicago Avenue in Hinsdale and proceed west on Chicago Avenue/Naperville Road through Clarendon Hills, Westmont, Downers Grove and then ending in Lisle. A brief ceremony, which officially closes Fire Prevention Week, will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1101 Kimberly Way (two blocks south of Route 53 and Maple Avenue), Lisle at approximately 7:45 p.m. The parade pays tribute to all those who have lost their lives to fire and features fire department vehicles from many surrounding villages.   5. Community Event - Westmont Ale Harvest Fest

    October 11, 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Ty Warner Park

    The inaugural Ale Harvest Fest will take place on Saturday, October 11th, 2014 and will showcase over 80 unique beers from craft breweries across the country with an emphasis on autumn and seasonal beers. We are also excited to announce that the final competition of the Illinois Professional-Amateur Homebrew Championship will take place at the fest. Attendees will be able to sample home brews from beer aficionados across Illinois and vote for their favorite. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Westmont Educational Foundation.

  6. Community Event - WSEC Board Meeting

    October 13, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Westmont Centre

    Westmont Special Events is a non-profit organization that coordinates community events in the Village of Westmont. Our events are volunteer based and monthly board meetings are held for event planning. Our meetings are open to the public.

  7. Community Event - Trick or Treat Trail

    October 25, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Downtown Westmont - Cass & Burlington

    Hosted by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau within our Downtown Business Community, the Annual Westmont Trick or Treat Trail invites families to enjoy trick-or-treating in the safe environment of our downtown Business District. The Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau will have Judges at the event to present special recognition awards at-large for fun and unique costumes for children and adults during the Trick-or-Treat Trail.

  5. LIBRARY EVENT: The Civil War Soldier & War Artifacts

    David Overeem will provide a glimpse of life as a soldier and present actual Civil War artifacts, including soldier's gear and weaponry. Learn about how soldiers endured hardships on the battlefield and were exposed to disease and lack of food.

    Interested in learning to play the ukelele? Join Joh Kostal of Uncle Jon's Music as he discusses a brief history of the instrument, different types of ukeleles, and how you can get started right away. Audience members will have a chance to test different ukeleles and ask Jon questions.

    Genealogist Jeff Bockman will discuss how cemetery records can reveal what really lies below the ground. View photographs of unique tombstones and monuments along with samples of cemetery and funeral home records and obituaries.
