Building Inspector/Code Enforcement
The Village of Westmont, IL (pop. 24,685) Building Inspector/Code Enforcement is responsible for  field inspections and technical work in connection with the enforcement activities of the Community Development Department including: work related to licensing, planning, zoning, permitting, light plan reviews, and enforcement of Village Ordinances and ICC Building Codes. 

Applicant must be a dedicated individual with integrity & strength of character.  Requires thorough knowledge of construction practices, state and local building codes, zoning , ordinances, and regulations; ability to examine plans and specifications to make interpretations and determine whether such plans conform to provisions of applicable codes, , ordinances, and regulations; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to prepare, organize and communicate field data reports, and provide testimony before committees or in court when required. 

Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent.  College and/or business coursework preferred.  Must possess ICC Residential and Commercial Building Inspector Certifications.  ICC certifications in residential and commercial building plan review highly desirable.  Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with all phases of modern construction practices and building codes, plus three (3) years in code enforcement, planning, and plan review.  Must possess valid IL Vehicle Operator’s License.

Starting hourly salary range is $27.64 to $29.02 (DOQ).  Average weekly hours are 40 hours per week.  For full job description, click on link below.
