Part-Time Certified Firefighter II / EMT-B or EMT-P
The Village of Westmont is accepting applications for the position of part-time firefighter/EMT-B or EMT-P status for the Westmont Fire Department. This is a position with a progressive Department. The Village of Westmont is located in southeast DuPage County and serves an area of approximately eight square miles with a population of approximately 25,000 residents. Included in this area are Golfview Hills, and the North and South Westmont Fire Protection Districts. The Department responded to nearly 4100 fire and EMS calls this past year. The Department is an Accredited Agency and an ISO Class 2.

Requirements
  • Certified as a Firefighter II / EMT-B or Paramedic within the Good Samaritan system or be able to test into the system.
  • Applicants should be a minimum of 19 years of age.
  • Must be able to attend a mandatory orientation on Tuesday May 17, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. sharp. The orientation will be conducted at the Westmont Fire Department’s Headquarters Station, located at 6015 South Cass Avenue.  No other notification of orientation will be sent.
  • Current Illinois CPAT card.
 
Salary
  • First year starting salary is $15.00 per hour for Firefighter EMT/B and $17.00 per hour for Firefighter EMT/P.
  • An additional 10% per hour is paid for day shifts and Saturday night shifts.
  • Double time is paid for specified Village holidays.
  • Shifts are twelve hour shifts from 0600-1800 and 1800-0600.

Part-time Code Enforcement (2016)
The Village of Westmont (population 24,974) is seeking a Seasonal Code Enforcement Officer in our Community Development Department during the approximately spring to fall season.  This temporary position will be responsible for conducting daily tours of the Village to report on weed, watering, and other code violations; issuing warnings and violations notices; and assisting the Code Enforcement team. 
 
The officer will perform on-site residential and commercial inspections and issue notices.  The successful candidate will have the ability to read a map, walk for long periods of time, be tactful and diplomatic, possess the ability to express themselves effectively verbally and in writing, with excellent customer service and computer skills.  High school diploma (or equivalent) required; 1-3 years of related experience preferred; and a valid State of Illinois driver’s license is required. ICC Certifications in Property Maintenance highly desirable.
 
Working hours will be approximately 36 hours per week, primarily during the day from approximately May until August.  Majority of work hours will be scheduled weekdays, and weekend hours will be required. Some evening hours will also be required. The rate of pay will be $14-$17 per hour DOQ.
