[ARCHIVED] Scarecrow Decorating and Display Contest

Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: September 9, 2019

The 5th Annual Downtown Westmont Scarecrow Decorating Contest held by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau (WCCTB)  is now open for registration.  Local businesses, community organizations, Westmont residents, families and individuals are invited to create a scarecrow to be displayed in downtown Westmont.  The scarecrows will be on display from October 7, 2019 to October 31, 2019.  The entry fee is $5.00 and is donated to the Westmont Historical Society.  You can use your own materials or purchase a materials package from the Historical Society for $10.00 (includes entry fee).  All applications must be submitted by October 3, 2019.

“Last year, more than twenty decorated scarecrows were on display throughout downtown Westmont,” said WCCTB Executive Director Larry Forssberg.  “All the scarecrows were created by local families, businesses or organizations. I can’t wait to see what creative scarecrows are entered this year.”

After October 7, all the scarecrows will be displayed in the downtown area and voting will be open.  The public is then asked to vote on their favorite scarecrow(s).  Vote often to show support for your favorites!
