The Westmont Environmental Improvement Committee (EIC) is hosting Pumpkin Composting & Bulb Recycle Event on Nov. 2 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Westmont Public Library, 428 N. Cass Avenue. Citizens are encouraged to bring their pumpkins to be composted as well as their T6 and T8 light bulbs that need to be recycled to the Library. All pumpkins MUST be cleaned free of inorganic materials such as candles and other decorations prior to being disposed in the composting collection container.
"Composting your pumpkin saves landfill space, hundreds of gallons of water, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and puts essential nutrients back into the soil,” said EIC Village Liaison Jon Yeater. “Green your Halloween, and compost your pumpkins!"
