Posted on: October 10, 2019[ARCHIVED] Village and Maercker D60 Celebrate ‘OAKtober’

On October 28, the Village of Westmont and D60 Ecology Club students are going to plant Oak trees at Maercker Elementary School. The trees were donated by Possibility Place Nursery in Monee, Illinois.
“The staff and students at Maercker Intermediate School have a long history of environmental action,” said Superintendent of D60 Sean Nugent. “The school has earned multiple Earth Flags from SCARCE and provides many opportunities for students to learn about and practice promoting environmental-friendly practices. This partnership with the Village furthers this commitment, and we are excited for our students to have a hands-on experience planting trees.”
Working with Maercker D60 and CUSD 201, the Village has successfully planted many new trees at Westmont schools for more than 23 years.
