The entire community is invited to come to Ty Warner Park Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-26, to join in on all the fun for the Red, White & BBQ Festival and Competition. The Red, White & BBQ, which is hosted by the Westmont Lions Club, is the largest State-sanctioned BBQ competition in Illinois and one of the biggest in the Midwest.
The Red, White & BBQ event plans to have their biggest year ever with a record number of BBQ competitors already signed up. The event features free live music, beer tent, an all-ages carnival, and of course, excellent BBQ. The friday night music headliner is 2112 Chicago, a Rush tribute band. The Led Zepplin tribute band Kashmir will be featured on Saturday night, and on Sunday, be sure to check out the Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute Wall of Denial.
“We’re very excited to have the BBQ Pitmasters Crew come to our event,” says event coordinator Chris Svitak. “This extra publicity will allow people from all over the country to see the quality of our already successful event.” The hit series, “BBQ Pitmasters” returns to Destination America TV network this summer with the deeply competitive spirit of the American BBQ subculture. The show follows a revolving cast of the best chefs on the circuit through a full season of high-profile barbecue competitions. And returning judges include the “winningest” man in BBQ, Myron Mixon, alongside Tuffy Stone, and each week will feature a third guest judge.
All proceeds goes towards Lions Club charitable initiatives and reinvestment in the community. For the full schedule and details, or if you would like to help and volunteer for this event, please visit their website at www.WestmontBBQ.com.
