Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: May 14, 2020
Even though schools are closed, School Districts 60 and 201 are doing their part to promote the importance of the 2020 Census with social media posts, fliers, and Census eblasts to school families. School districts want families to know the importance of completing and promoting the 2020 Census.
Four Westmont families assisted with the promotions by being part of the Westmont Census Challenge and posting a picture of their family after completing the Census. Photos of the Engstroms, Hoffs, Schejbals, and the Moffetts were used in promotional fliers that were published via social media.
“We appreciate all the help we have received from the school districts and area families,” said Westmont First Committee Chair Bruce Barker. “It’s important that Westmont schools receive their fair share of funding that is related to the Census count.”
The Census results in federal funding coming back to the community which goes for important programs such as:
- Special education
- Technology
- Teacher training
- After school programs
- School lunch assistance
- And more
