Village Alerts Residents of Misleading Promotions Regarding Electric Supply
Village of Westmont
Date Issued: July 11, 2012
PRESS RELEASE
The Village of Westmont wants to alert residents that various electric supply companies are soliciting their services to the community. Some of the solicitations/promotions may appear to be a communication from ComEd or a company involved with the new Westmont Electric Aggregation Program. Because of this potential misunderstanding, especially as it relates to the official Westmont Electric Aggregation Program, the Village wants to affirm the following facts:
- Westmont residents who want to benefit from the cost-savings from the Westmont Electric Aggregation Program do not need to do anything to participate - ENROLLMENT TO RECEIVE THESE COST SAVINGS IS AUTOMATIC.
- The electric supply company chosen for the Westmont Electric Aggregation Program is FirstEnergy Solutions. They have sent a letter to residents from Village of Westmont Officials featuring the Village of Westmont logo letting residents know how to “Opt-out” of this program if they do not want to receive the cost-savings opportunity afforded by the aggregation program. (LINK TO OFFICIAL OPT-OUT LETTER.) However, IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE AND RECEIVE THESE COST SAVINGS, RESIDENTS DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING.
- If you receive a phone call, email or door-to-door solicitation regarding changes to your electricity supplier, be aware that THESE SOLICITATIONS ARE NOT PART OF THE VILLAGE OF WESTMONT ELECTRIC AGGREGATION PROGRAM.
If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact FirstEnergy Solutions toll-free at 1-866-636-3749, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., CST.
