[ARCHIVED] Westmont Eagle Scouts Honored

Congrats Eagle ScoutsV2

Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: December 14, 2020

Mayor Ron Gunter recently recognized six local scouts for achieving the Eagle Scout status.  The six scouts were part of a special virtual meeting with the Mayor to present the projects they completed to become an Eagle Scout.

“We are always eager to recognize our young residents and their achievements,” said Gunter.  “To have six individuals achieve their Eagle Scout status in the same year is quite the accomplishment.  I want to be sure to thank their adult leader Mike Graham and other volunteers who volunteer their time to support such a positive program.”

Following are the names of the Troop #6 Eagle Scouts and information about their various community projects:

Jacob Bearden built two hand-made american flag collection boxes. The project consisted of designing, building, and installing the two american flag collection boxes, which are placed at the Westmont Park District Administrative Building and at the Westmont Police-Fire Facility.

Evan Michael Eldridge created storage improvement for the Christian Church of Clarendon Hills.  His project consisted of designing, planning, and installing a custom storage system for the community room at the church.

Jordan Graham built a raised garden bed for Miller Elementary School.  Jordan’s project consisted of designing, planning, and placing a large garden bed at Miller School for their garden club.

Gavin Hancock built equestrian jumps for Danada Equestrian Center.  Gavin’s project consisted of designing, planning, and organizing the construction and delivery of the horse jumps to the Danada Equestrian Center.

Stephen Michalik built three fish cribs for the DuPage Forest Preserve.  The fish cribs are artificial fish habitats designed to help juvenile fish grow up to a larger and more survivable size.  The fish cribs will be placed in one of the various lakes in DuPage County.

Matthew Steger created a digital catalog for historic Westmont artifacts at the Gregg House Museum. His project consisted of organization of historical artifacts held by the Gregg House Museum, through providing working methodologies to scan and catalog the artifacts, transforming each one into a high-quality digital format archive for safekeeping.

A recording of the presentation has been published on the Village of Westmont YouTube Channel.  The Village of Westmont congratulates all of the Eagle Scouts for their successful projects and dedication to serving the community.
