Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: January 15, 2021
Per Governor Pritzger’s announcement today, Region 8 of the Restore Illinois Plan, which includes all of DuPage County, will remain in Tier 3 mitigation. Some of the Tier 3 mitigations include:
“While there has been some improvement regarding COVID-19 data in our area, we need to ask all of our residents to remain resolute and follow that State’s mitigation plan guidelines,” said Westmont Fire Chief Steve Riley. “Illinois is doing better than many other states, but it is clear that the past 45 days have been the deadliest timeframe of this pandemic since this all started about a year ago. Our country averaged more than 2500 deaths a day during the past month, and we will soon surpass 400,000 total deaths due to COVID-19. While vaccines are slowly being administered, it is important that we don’t let our guard down.”
Area vaccinations are being coordinated by the DuPage County Health Department and area hospitals and health facilities. The Village of Westmont will publish updates as information and updates are confirmed.
“Regarding COVID-19 information and updates, we ask everyone to seek accurate information directly from the official source,” added Riley. “We want to warn citizens that many posts on social media may be misleading or inaccurate. We will post all important updates on our village website. Our only goal is to help ensure the safety of our residents.”
