[ARCHIVED] Special Brew Created for Westmont’s 100th Anniversary

Westmont Centennial Amber Ale WB

Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: January 28, 2021

As part of Westmont’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration, a commemorative anniversary beer has been created and will soon be available to the public.  “As the Park District was planning our Winter Beer Fest, we recruited Westmont business Whiskey Hill Brewing Company to help us with this project,” said Dustin Kleefisch, who helped coordinate the creation of the special brew.  “Working with their brewmaster, a decision was made to use centennial hops, which has light citrus notes and a carmel-ish flavor.  Our goal was to create a prohibition-era beer that will be enjoyed by everyone.”

In December, there was a request to the community to assist with the naming of the new beer.  More than 5 dozen names were suggested and it was decided that the special brew would be called Westmont Centennial Amber Ale.  Whiskey Hill designed a label for the beer that features film noir style imagery and includes a 1930’s era train and truck that creates a feeling of bootlegging during prohibition, which Westmont was known for.

Bottling of the beer has begun and the beverage is expected to be available for purchase soon.  The Centennial Amber Ale will be a featured beverage at the Park District’s Winter Beer Fest To-Go event.  The brew will also be part of a special promotion by the Westmont Historical Society in which people can get a copy of the new Westmont history book, a membership to the Westmont Historical Society, and two bottles of the Centennial Amber Ale, all for $30.  For more information, contact the Westmont Park District at westmontparks.org  or call 630-969-8080.
