Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: April 23, 2021
At their April 22 meeting, the Westmont Village Board approved the Village of Westmont 2021-2022 budget. During the preparation of the budget, much consideration was given to the on-going impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as it relates to the economy.
The Village of Westmont fiscal budget runs each year from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. The approval of the budget in April follows our standard practice so that the new budget can begin on May 1, which provides the time needed to adopt the annual appropriations ordinance which, per State mandate, must be filed with the county within the 1st quarter of the fiscal year.
“I want to thank our Finance Department and our entire village organization for all the hard work they put into the budget process,” said Mayor Ron Gunter. “I feel that the Village has done an excellent job navigating the economic uncertainties of the past year and we’re now ready to move ahead on several projects.”
Following are some of the highlights of the newly approved 2021-2022 budget:
- While there was a reduction in revenue in FY 2020, most revenue streams have recovered to the extent that the Village is able to lift the hold that was placed on many items last year.
- We are moving forward with various infrastructure projects involving sidewalks, alleys, roadways, and stormwater improvements.
- We are again authorizing the use of our standard business-focused grants including downtown development grants, lifesafety grants, and our businesses publicity grants.
- The Village is allocating funds for the 100th Anniversary celebration.
A summary of the approved Village Budget will be published on the village website. For more information, please contact our Westmont Finance Department at finance@westmont.il.gov.
