Each year, the Village of Westmont coordinates, schedules, and performs a number of construction updates that improve our community's infrastructure for our residents and businesses. Also, the County and State perform various construction projects that may impact our community. Following is a list of scheduled construction projects that will impact the Village of Westmont in the upcoming year. It should be noted that weather and other circumstances may impact the schedule of various projects.
31st Street Construction Project
While not located in Westmont, the 31st Street road construction project may affect Westmont motorists travelling north of the community. There will be lane closures on 31st Street from west of Illinois Route 83 to Spring Road. The project will begin in May and continue through late fall.
Oakmont Lane Water Main Project
Oakmont Lane to Westmont High School
Construction of 470 feet of 12” PVC water main. Construction includes water main, one hydrant 2 valves and other related work.

Completed renovation of train station plaza

Water Main Replacement Project
North Washington Street from Burlington Avenue to Naperville Road
Construction of 1800 feet of 8” PVC water main to replace existing 6” water main. Construction includes new main, water services, hydrants, valves, and other related work.

East Des Moines Water Main Replacement Project
Linden Avenue to Oak Avenue
Ph2 Design Engineering for the construction of 3,000 feet of 8” PVC water main to replace existing 6” water main. Construction will include new main, water services, hydrants, valves, and other related work.

Water Main Replacement Project
E. Dallas Street / S. Linden Avenue / S. Warwick - DesMoines Street - Richmond Street / Linden Avenue - Warwick Avenue
Ph2 Design Engineering for the construction of 2,200 feet of 8” PVC water main to replace existing 6” water main. Construction will include new main, water services, hydrants, valves, and other related work.

Water Main Replacement Project
North Warwick -from Burlington Avenue to Chicago Avenue
Ph2 Design Engineering for the construction of 2,800 feet of 8” PVC water main to replace existing 6” water main. Construction will include new main, water services, hydrants, valves, and other related work.

Water Main Extension Project
63rd Street from Richmond Street to Western Ave.
Ph2 Design Engineering for the construction of 2,800 feet of 8” PVC water main to replace existing 6” water main. Construction will include new main, water services, hydrants, valves, and other related work.

2021 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Resurfacing Project
Hot Mix Asphalt resurfacing by pavement grinding, crack control treatment, curb & gutter removal and replacement, sidewalk removal and replacement, binder and surface course, and other related work.

Stormwater Project and Gateway Sign
63rd Street and Richmond St.
Ph3 Design and Construction of the streambank stabilization and native plantings.

CBD Alley Reconstruction Project (Sec D)
East Alley between Burlington Avenue and Irving Street
Reconstruction of the alley with pervious pavement, installation of new storm sewers and pipe underdrain system and other related work.
Target Completion Date - Fall 2021
New Village Fueling Center
Westmont Fire Station Headquarters - 6015 S. Cass Avenue
Construction of new two 4,000 gallon tanks and fueling station.
Target Completion Date - Fall 2021
North Water Storage Tower Property Acquisition & Storage Tank Construction
Based on the current Village population, IEPA recommends we have a 48-hr storage capacity of 5.5-million gallons. The Village’s current storage capacity is 4.5 million gallons. Public Works is seeking funds to secure property on the north side of the Village to construct a 1 million gallon, above-ground storage tank.
Completion Date - Spring 2022
Stormwater Project
57th Street from Cass Avenue to Adams Street
Phase 1 and Phase 2 design engineering for the new 12” storm sewer.

CBD Alley Reconstruction Project (Sec G)
Alley Between Richmond Avenue and Lincoln Street
Ph2 Design Engineering for the reconstruction of the alley with pervious pavement, installation of new storm sewers and pipe underdrain system and other related work.

CBD Parking Lot Project
Lincoln Street and Irving Street
Construction of the parking Lot and other related work.
Target Completion date - Spring 2022
Westmont Fire Station Headquarters
Parking Lot Expansion Project
Construction of a new parking lot. New lot will add approximately 24 parking spaces and will consist of the new lot, lights, and detention facility modifications.

Sidewalk Project
Adams Street from 55th Place to Diane Main Park
Ph2 Design Engineering for the installation of new public sidewalks on the west side of Adams St..
