“As we continue our 100th Anniversary Celebration, we are working on a couple of Westmont history projects and we’re seeking help from the community,” said Westmont Communications Director Larry McIntyre, who is co-chairing the 100th Anniversary Committee. “Currently, we’re hoping to connect with people who are familiar with the history of CUSD201 and the schools in the area going back to pre-incorporation. Also, we are trying to get digital copies of photos from Westmont’s history.”
Dr. Jen Burisek of CUSD201 has been selected to write a historic overview of local schools, focusing on the geographic area that became CUSD201. The outline of the project will focus on different eras regarding education in Westmont with each chapter including historical information, photos, and personal stories from the timeframe.
Also, the village is working on a historical video that will include personal stories of Westmont over the years. At this time, residents are asked to share their photos of Westmont’s history. A specific photo “wish list” is being created for the project.
