In recognition of the Village of Westmont’s 100th Anniversary, the Westmont Area Historical Society has initiated a Historical Structure Plaque Program. The goal of the program is to highlight Westmont’s history by identifying and promoting awareness and appreciation of buildings that have historic or architectural merit. The Plaque Program reflects Westmont’s pride in its past and a desire to preserve its history for future generations.
“We’ve been working on the details of this program for a while and we’re happy to see it move forward,” said Tom Smith, Westmont Area Historical Society board member. “Initially, we’re focusing on business properties in the downtown area, but then we hope the program will grow to include other structures throughout the community. We’re working with Barb Latzel of the Framemakers and we anticipate that 10 N. Cass Avenue will be the first recipient of the Historical Structure Plaque.”
