Westmont, Illinois -- Date Issued: September 9, 2021
The Westmont Police Department, partnering with local business Docu-Shred, will co-host their annual paper shredding event to benefit Special Olympics Illinois. This year’s event is scheduled for October 30, 2021, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Westmont Police-Fire Facility, 500 N. Cass Avenue.
The Westmont Police Department is asking for a donation of $5.00 per box and/or container of paper. Participants are asked to remove all plastic and metal items, including paper clips, from all paper before shredding. Special Olympics merchandise will be available for purchase at this event. Debit, credit, check, and cash will be accepted for all purchases and donations.
“We want to thank Todd Baryl and Docu-Shred Inc. for their continued support of the Special Olympics Illinois Torch Run,” said Police Chief Jim Gunther. “We truly appreciate Todd and everyone who participates in this event that benefits this wonderful cause.”
This will be a no-contact, drive-up paper shredding fundraiser. This event provides citizens with an opportunity to safeguard their personal information, which aids in the prevention of identity theft.
