Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: October 5, 2021
Annually, the Westmont Police Department promotes Halloween recommendations in an effort to help ensure citizen safety while trick-or-treating. Following are this year’s guidelines.
TRICK-OR-TREATING HOURSIn Westmont, it is recommended that trick-or-treating hours are from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Halloween - this year, Sunday, Oct. 31.
PARTICIPATING HOMESIf a home is planning to participate in trick-or-treating and hand out treats, then please turn on your front lights so that families know that it is OK to visit your home. If possible, consider putting a table outside and hand out treats from there - this will help let trick-or-treaters know that you’re participating. If your home is NOT participating, then please make sure your outdoor lights are off.
TRICK-OR-TREAT SIGNSThe Village of Westmont has created some helpful TRICK-OR-TREAT SIGNS that people can print out and post on their front doors to help families identify which homes are participating, and which homes are not. Printed copies of these signs can be picked up at the Westmont Police Department, 500 N. Cass, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ADDITIONAL TRICK-OR-TREATING TIPSIf you choose to trick-or-treat or hand out candy, please follow these safety guidelines:
PLEASE REMEMBERWhile these recommendations may serve as our current guidelines to parents regarding Halloween, the State of Illinois and other agencies may have further recommendations and direction regarding participation in Halloween activities. Please take note of any updated Halloween-related protocols.
The Village of Westmont wishes everyone a fun and SAFE Halloween.
