The Westmont Fire Department’s 2021 year end report is now available for review on the village website. “2021 was a challenging year due to COVID-19, yet staff carried out their duties and I am very proud of the way they responded to the adversity,” said Fire Chief Steve Riley. “I want to thank all of our Westmont Fire Department personnel for their hard work and dedication serving the community.” Following are highlights from 2021.

2021 Annual Report Highlights
- TRAINING ACHIEVEMENTS - The Westmont Fire Department attained a total of 33 total certifications. Staff attended 11 conferences/seminars. Eleven new hires completed their new hire training.
- PROMOTIONS - 8 fire department personnel promoted to higher positions.
- FIRE CANDIDATE PROGRAM - The WFD reinstated its Candidate Program for 2022, allowing 5 cadets to be sponsored and attend the College of DuPage Fire Academy.
- OPERATION CALLS - The WFD received over 4685 calls for service.
- INVESTIGATIONS - The WFD completed 14 origin and cause of fire investigations.
- GRANTS AND REVENUE - WFD generated $2.1 million from grants and revenue in 2021.
- COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT - The WFD participated in a community vaccination event, expanded the RxBox program by adding a second location, held its annual open house and had its largest turnout ever, coordinated the annual Fire Truck Night at Cruisin’ Night, participated in 100th Anniversary activities including the ‘Find the Fire Truck’ contest, coordinated fireworks at several special events, and received 200 survey response cards ranking WFD and paramedics as excellent.
