Westmont, Illinois - Date Issued: June 3, 2022
“Our first Cruisin’ Nights of the year always has a great turnout, but this year was a record-breaker for our first night,” said Westmont Special Events Executive Director Kristina Kaniauskaite. “We counted 331 cars and there were thousands of people walking up and down Cass Avenue enjoying the event. We hope everyone had a great time.” Photos from last night’s event have been posted in the Photo Gallery on the Village of Westmont website.
In 2022, Westmont Cruisin’ Nights will be held on Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., starting June 2 and continuing through Sept. 1. Cruisin’ Nights, which is coordinated by the Westmont Special Events not-for-profit organization, is held in downtown Westmont on Cass Avenue. Three blocks of the downtown are blocked off and dedicated for classic car parking.
“This event has more than doubled in size over the last few years,” stated Kaniauskaite. “This year, we will have a lot more car clubs coming out, two live bands every week, art shows and art classes, so we’re expecting to have another record-breaking year.”
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
“Westmont Special Events is a volunteer-driven organization. We are always in need of volunteers who can come out and help at our events,” added Kaniauskaite. “With setup and teardown, each car show is about six hours, and we need about 10 volunteers at all times. Volunteers can help as event greeters, staffing the information table, safely guiding cars to and from their parking spots, and more. All help is appreciated, whether you can help for an hour or the whole night, we need you.” For more information regarding volunteer opportunities, please contact the Westmont Special Events office at 630-829-9378 or wsec@westmont.il.gov.
