“For our first community volunteer event, this was a big success,” says Westmont First Chair Bruce Barker. “This was a group effort and we need to thank the Westmont Rotary, Holy Trinity Youth Ministry, the volunteers of Westmont First, and the Westmont citizens who stepped up to be part of this. We also need to thank the businesses who worked with us including Brewed Awakening, La La Li, La Petite Sweet, The Sweet & Savory Spot, and Bales Lumber & Supply.” Barker also thanked resident volunteer Adam Smrokowsi and Westmont Communications Director Larry McIntyre for taking the lead on coordinating this project.
More than 40 total volunteers joined together on Saturday, Nov. 9 to go throughout the community and help residents who needed assistance with their fall leaf raking and lawn care projects.
“Our goal is to get people active in the community through volunteerism and more,” says Barker. “Westmont has a lot of great people and we want to provide opportunities for our residents and businesses to get involved.”
