Waste Management, the company with which the Village of Westmont contracts for a variety of services including recycling, waste hauling, composting. and brush-pick-up, has recently implemented a new automated attendant (LISA) for their 1-800-964-8988 customer service line.
The Village of Westmont has a “City” account with Waste Management, which means residents do not have an account number directly with Waste Management. Additionally, because of the “City” account, Waste Management does not have the individual home addresses for Westmont residents.
To successfully navigate the new Waste Management Virtual Assistant system, Westmont residents should follow these steps:
- Call 1-800-964-8988
- After the initial introduction from LISA and a question is asked, state the following - “I do not have an account.”
- Then after the second question, state the following - “I do not have an account.”
- For the third question, state the following - “Residential”
- This should connect you with a WM live customer service representative (CSR). Please let the CSR know that you are from the Village of Westmont and that your community has a “City” account, then the CSR should be able to address your request
The new WM Virtual Assistant system went online in April 2023. WM is aware of the unique customer service issues for “City” accounts and are working to make improvements. Customers can also visit the Waste Management website at wm.com for more information.
