The Westmont Police Department provides a wide range of services for our citizens. Below are just a few of the services available.
SAFE EXCHANGE ZONE
The Police Department has a designated Safe Exchange Zone (SEZ) located on the southeast corner of the Police Department at 500 N. Cass Avenue. The SEZ is available 24/7, well-lighted, and video recorded. The SEZ can be used as a safe location for internet property sales and exchanges, child custody exchanges, as well as other types of transactions. No reservation is necessary.
VACATION WATCHES
The Police Department will check on homes for up to eight weeks while a resident is on vacation or out of town. Officers will walk around the residence to ensure nothing has been tampered with. The resident will receive a letter upon their return letting them know the time, date, and the name of the officer who performed the check. Vacation watch request forms are available on the Village website or can be picked up in person from the Police Department Records Division at 500 N. Cass Avenue.
OVERNIGHT PARKING ADVANCE NOTICE
The Village prohibits vehicles from parking on village streets and parking lots from 2-6 a.m. nightly. Up to five times per month, the Westmont Police Department may grant permission for overnight parking for residents and guests. Please note, overnight street parking is still prohibited during snowfall of 2” or more. To request overnight parking, fill out the visit online Westmont Overnight Parking Permit Request form listed on the village website, or you can call the Police Department non-emergency phone number at 630-981-6300. Overnight parking must be requested before 2 a.m.
NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC SERVICES
The Police Department offers services to address community traffic concerns. If your neighborhood or street is experiencing traffic problems, please contact the Police Department for assistance.
- TARGETED PATROLS occur in a specific area that requires traffic pedestrian enforcement. Patrols address speeding, stop sign and railroad crossing violations, parking over sidewalks, etc.
- SPEED STUDIES may be requested to address speeding concerns in an area.
- SPEED TRAILERS may be requested for specific areas to deter speeding as well as raise awareness of posted speed limits.
VEHICLE LOCKOUTS
If a child or pet is locked inside a car, do not hesitate, call 9-1-1. In the event of a non-emergency vehicle lockout, you may request assistance from the Police Department. Simply call the non-emergency number at 630-981-6300 and provide your name, vehicle description and location.
COOLING CENTER
The Police Department is also a cooling center. If you need a place to cool off, the Police Department located at 500 N. Cass Avenue is available during business hours.
