Village of Westmont
Date Issued: Dec. 4, 2013
At the Nov. 14, 2013 Village Board Meeting, the Village of Westmont approved a new contract with Waste Management. The contract includes a slight increase for services as well as several new services that will be valuable to Westmont citizens.
The new contract calls for a 3% increase for the first year of the contract, and then a 2 to 4% increase for each of the next four years, linked to the CPI (Consumer Price Index).
With the new contract, Westmont residents will benefit from several new programs. These additional services include an expanded brush pickup program, fluorescent light bulb recycling program, and a sharps kiosk drop-off program. Details regarding the fluorescent light bulb recycling program and the sharps kiosk program will be developed and promoted in the spring of 2014. Following are details regarding the new brush pick-up program.
NEW BRUSH PICK-UP PROGRAM
Waste Management will now provide a brush pick-up program. This service was previously performed by the Village Public Works Department. The expanded brush pick-up service will begin in April 2014 and coincide with the Yard Waste Collection Program. Branches and tree limbs must be tied with twine or string into bundles no more than 4 feet long and 1 ½ feet in diameter. Each bundle must weigh less than fifty (50) pounds. Trees, stumps, and branches larger than six (6) inches in diameter cannot be collected as yard waste. Brush should be placed with your other refuse on your usual pickup day. No sticker is required for brush pickup.
