2023 Wicked West Fest Events

Mark your calendars and get ready for Wicked West Fest 2023.  Wicked West Fest is a month-long festival of Fall and Halloween events and activities.  Following are some of this year’s highlights:

WESTMONT SCARECROW DECORATING CONTEST
September 28 - Sign-Up Deadline 
Downtown Westmont

The entire community is invited to participate in the Westmont Scarecrow Decorating Contest hosted by the Westmont Chamber and the Historical Society. Decorated scarecrows will be on display throughout downtown Westmont and everyone will be invited to vote online. For more information and to sign up, please visit the Chamber website

FALL & HALLOWEEN WINDOW MURAL PROGRAM
September 29 - Sign-Up Deadline 
Throughout Westmont

Hosted by Westmont Special Events and the Creative Arts Network, area businesses are invited to sign up to have their windows painted by our incredible local artists with Fall & Halloween-themed murals. More information and sign-up details have been posted on the Westmont Special Events website at westmontevents.com.

THE LAST STRAW
Sunday, October 1 - NOON-4PM 
Gregg House Museum - 115 S. Linden

Come to the Gregg House Museum for a variety of fun family activities: Make a scarecrow (nominal fee), decorate pumpkins, create cool crafts, take a hayride, pan for gold, and more. For more information, visit the Westmont Park District website

FIREFLY FAMILY THEATRE PRESENTS: THE HARVEST MOON
Saturday, October 7 - 10:00AM & 10:45AM

Join Spark the Firefly and all her friends as they welcome a new season. The Harvest Moon includes puppets, original music, interactive movement, and lots of fall fun for families! This 20-minutes show is ideal for ages 2–7, but all ages are welcome. Sign up via the WPL events calendar.

PARANORMAL INVESTIGATING BASICS

Explore the basics of paranormal investigating from Quantum Paranormal Investigators. Learn about the equipment, the dos and don’ts, and how to conduct an investigation in an appropriate way. WICKED WEST FEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST

TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL

NEW IN 2023 - GRAND PRIZE PUMPKIN GAME
Saturday, October 21 - 11AM-1PM
Downtown Westmont at Cass & East Irving

The Westmont Environmental Improvement Committee (EIC) is coordinating a new activity for this year’s Wicked West Fest.  The Grand Prize Pumpkin Game will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Irving Street just west of Cass Avenue.  The new Grand Prize Pumpkin Game will invite Trick or Treat Trail participants to play the game in which prizes are earned for each bucket you can toss a toy pumpkin into.  The goal of the activity is to promote pumpkin composting and encourage citizens to not throw their used pumpkins in the garbage.

CASKETS ON CASS RACE
Saturday, October 21 - 12:30PM
Downtown Westmont on Cass

Caskets on Cass is a foot race of homemade caskets sponsored by community organizations, businesses, and area residents. To learn more and sign up on the Chamber website at westmontchamber.com or contact the Westmont Chamber at 630-960-5553. 

HAUNTED FOREST TOUR  
Saturday, October 21 - 3:00-9:30PM
Diane Main Park - 200 W. 59th Street

Follow the trail and take a haunted wagon ride through Smith Woods as ghosts, ghouls and monsters come alive before your very eyes! Little Monsters Showing for younger viewers 3 to 6:30pm. Sheer Terror Tours from 7 to 9:30pm. $8 per person. For more information, visit the Westmont Park District website

JANE AUSTEN MURDER MYSTERY GAME
Tuesday, October 24 - 6:00-7:30PM

A crime of great proportions has rocked Rosings Park! As one of Jane Austen’s beloved characters, can you put the clues together and discover the killer? Sign up via the WPL events calendar.  

ZOMBIE CRAWL 
Saturday, October 28, 2-6:00PM
Locations Throughout Westmont

Hosted by Westmont Special Events, this event takes guests throughout the community visiting participating pubs and restaurants. Each location will have food and beverage specials as well as a fun Halloween activity. This is a 21 and over event. Tickets and registration information will be published soon at westmontevents.com.

SPOOKTACULAR FUN NIGHT  
Monday, October 30, 5-7:00PM
Westmont Park District Community Center - 75 E. Richmond

The whole family is invited to a safe and fun-filled evening as you trick or treat through the Park District Community Center. Meet Wacky Drac, create a spooky craft, or try your luck at a game or two - A variety of spooktacular activities will make your evening fangtastic!
