At a recent board meeting, the Village of Westmont approved a Dementia Friendly Awareness Proclamation. Mary Ferguson from the Birches Assisted Living Center and Susan Frick from Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center were thanked by Mayor Ron Gunter for their leadership and continuing work with the Dementia Friendly Westmont initiative. Dementia Friendly Westmont is a program that raises awareness and provides informational resources for persons with dementia and their caregivers.

Dementia Friendly Westmont Programs At The LibraryAs an official Dementia-Friendly community, the Village of Westmont, along with the Westmont Public Library and other public agencies, continues to provide education and awareness opportunities to engage the public regarding this challenging issue.

MEMORY CAFEMondays 1-2p: December 18, January 15, February 19Join us for a social gathering of individuals living with dementia and their care partners. We offer a place where both care partner and care recipient can socialize and connect with others in a similar situation. Activities at the memory cafe are free.
