The Westmont Park District has published a community survey seeking feedback regarding a potential new facility at Ty Warner Park. “We have an incredible opportunity before us,” says Park District Assistant Director Bob Fleck. “Gov. Quinn has announced a grant program that will pay 75% of the expenses for new ‘brick and mortar’ projects that cost up to $2.5 million. When the Park District originally designed Ty Warner Park, we had a multi-purpose recreation center on the master plan. The rec center had to be cut due to expenses, but now we have an opportunity to go back and realize our original vision.”
The link to the online survey can be found below. The eight-question survey is mostly multiple choice and can be completed in a few minutes. The direct URL to the survey is: www.wpdsurvey.org
“We want to gauge public opinion regarding the potential value of this type of facility on the north side of our community,” adds Fleck. Some of the potential uses might include: Early Childhood Programs & Classes, Visual arts, Musical arts, Dance, Fitness, Personal training, Senior programming, Community theater, and Cooking classes. The facility may also be rented out for meetings, special events, receptions and banquets.
The survey will be online through Tuesday, March 4. Results will be included in the grant application sent to the State of Illinois for consideration. If you have any questions regarding the survey or the proposed rec center, please contact Bob Fleck at rfleck@westmontparks.org or 630-969-8080.
