Village of Westmont
Date Issued: Feb. 25, 2014
Each year, Village Staff works with the Village Board to adopt an annual budget. The Village budget is typically adopted in May and runs through April for the following year. The creation of the budget takes many months of preparation.
“We begin our earliest conversations regarding the budget about six months prior to budget approval,” says Village Finance Director Spencer Parker. “The fact that the process takes about half the year is a good thing because it forces our Village to continuously scrutinize and validate our revenues and expenditures.”
The Village has recently set a schedule for budget workshops. “The Annual Budget is the Village Work Plan for the coming year. Our Budget public workshops allow our residents to get involved and gain great insight into details of our Village municipal operations,” says Village Manager Ron Searl.
The following budget workshop dates have been scheduled:
Wednesday, April 2, 2014, 6 p.m.
Saturday, April 5, 2014, 9 a.m.
Thursday, April 10, 2014, 6 p.m.
All meetings will be held at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy Street. Meetings will be recorded and made available for playback on the Village YouTube Channel.
The Village will continue to work on the budget until it is adopted, which is expected to occur by May 2014. For more information, please contact the Finance Department at sparker@westmont.il.gov or 630-981-6230.
