At a recent Chamber of Commerce event, Dave LaBrash of Clarendon Hills Bank was surprised to learn that he had won an interesting raffle prize. “Missy and I are looking forward to a romantic evening in jail,” jokes LaBrash. The dinner will take place Friday, March 28 at the Westmont Police Department and include complimentary mug shots, or, dinner photos.
“When the Chamber had asked for raffle prizes, we thought it would be fun to offer something unique and out of the ordinary,” says Westmont Police Chief Tom Mulhearn. “The money goes towards a good cause, so we’re happy to help.” No tax dollars will be used to fulfill this commitment as the personnel involved will be donating their time and other resources being used will not interrupt Police Department operations. Money raised through the fundraiser benefits the Westmont Chamber of Commerce, which in turn promotes commerce in Westmont and among Westmont Chamber members.
“We want to thank the Westmont Police Department and all of the businesses who stepped up to be part of this special promotion,” says Gregg Pill, Westmont Chamber President. Participating businesses include J. Fleming’s Absolutely Delicious Restaurant, La La Li Patisserie, The Sweet and Savory Spot Bakery & Restaurant, Martika P. Gartman Photography, and Phillips Flowers. Special thanks to Lennie Bowen, Chamber Past President, for her help in coordinating this memorable evening in jail for Mr. and Mrs. LaBrash.
“We’re looking forward to a great night,” adds Chief Mulhearn. The Chamber will coordinate the food and decorations while the Police Department will provide the ambiance. “We hope the prisoners, I mean, dinner guests, enjoy their visit.”
