“The Village Board acted to dissolve the Community Stormwater Management Committee so that the committee members could freely participate in the new Stakeholders Group,” says Trustee Steve Nero. “The Stakeholders Group will work directly with the consultant to develop the proposed Stormwater Utility. It was the recommendation of the residents on the committee that the Village create the utility so that our community would have a dedicated revenue stream that would address our stormwater issues and greatly improve our infrastructure.”
The new Citizens Stormwater Stakeholders Group (CSSG) consists of residents from throughout the community as well as representatives from local public agencies and organizations including the Park District, Library, Chamber, area churches, and more.
“Now is the time for the public to get involved,” says Westmont resident Karolina Przyborowski who has agreed to be part of the Stakeholders Group. “It was only a year ago that Westmont and neighboring communities were devastated by floods which resulted from a storm sewer system that simply couldn’t handle the amount of water. These meetings will allow for the opportunity of the community to come together and create a solution.”
There are three remaining CSSG meetings: May 6, May 27, and June 10. All meetings will be held at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy, and begin at 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend all of the meetings.
