“Life’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” - Forrest Gump
On May 1, the Village of Westmont knows exactly what they’re going to get. Gary Sinise, one of Chicago’s premiere acting talents, iconic military supporter and leader of the Lt. Dan Band, will be part of the Operation Support Our Troops (OSOT) kickoff event to promote “Rockin’ for the Troops”, a fundraising event in support of OSOT America.
“This is a great cause and we couldn’t be happier to provide a location for their kickoff event,” says Sean Makeeff, General Manager of McGrath Acura in Westmont. “Our organization made a commitment to give back to the community and when we were asked to help with Operation Support Our Troops, we thought it was a perfect fit for what we want to do.”
The mission of OSOT (www.osotamerica.org) is to support the morale and well-being of American forces by providing comfort, resources and education to them and their families both while they are deployed in harm’s way as well as after their return. Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band have been a part of Rockin' for the Troops since inception in 2006 but missed last year due to a schedule conflict.
“We really appreciate the Village of Westmont and McGrath Acura for their support,” says OSOT President Deborah Rickert. “This came together quickly and everyone has been very accommodating. We think this will be a great event to get the word out about our mission and share with the community more information about the needs of our military, veterans and families. Our programs support our veterans, military who are deployed, our fallen heroes, and their families - this is an important cause that would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and the many people who contribute to this cause. We could not be happier to have Gary back and McGrath Acura and The Village of Westmont have really rolled out the red carpet to let him know he was missed!”
The OSOT America/Rockin for the Troops Kickoff Event will be held on May 1, 2014, from Noon to 5 p.m. at McGrath Acura, 400 E. Ogden Avenue in Westmont. There will be a presentation by OSOT around 1:00 p.m. Gary Sinise will be part of the presentation, which will include a new car being given to a veteran. The event is free to the public. The event is free to the public and will feature free food and beverage supplied by Mr. Bill’s Catering. There will be live music by Keith Semple of 7th Heaven and The Sempletons.
