Village of Westmont

On November 13, 2014, the Westmont Village Board approved Stephen May as the new Village Manager of Westmont. May had been serving as the Acting Village Manager since the retirement of former Manager Ronald Searl earlier this year.
“We are excited to welcome Steve to this new and important role,” says Mayor Ron Gunter. “Steve has been with the Village for many years, so he knows the community well, but equally important, he has been immersed in our conversations regarding the vision and the future of Westmont. We look forward to working together for the benefit of our community.”
May graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was hired by the Village of Westmont in 1986 and was eventually promoted to the role of Assistant Village Engineer. In 2000, May took the Village Engineer position with the Village of Lemont. Then May returned to Westmont in 2003 to take on the role of Director of Public Works. In addition, he has been serving as the Assistant Village Manager for the last year.
“I want to thank the Village Board for their support of me in this new position,” says May. “Westmont has a number of excellent initiatives in place that have positioned us for success. I feel we have a great staff and we’re constantly striving to improve how we deliver programs and services to the community.
