Date Issued: April 30, 2015
“We’re now entering year two of this 3-year program,” says Village Trustee and Public Works Committee Chair Harold Barry III. “This is a continuation of the most ambitious roadway project in the history of the community.” In 2014, the Village approved a street resurfacing plan that will ultimately invest more than $8 million in community road repairs over a 3-year period.
An independent engineering firm, Infrastructure Management Services, Inc., was contracted in 2012 to perform a Laser Dynaflect study of all roadways in the community to create an initial assessment of road repairs. This study, along with Public Works staff recommendations, was used to create the list of streets to be resurfaced during this project. K-Five Construction Corp. of Lemont, Illinois was awarded the contract for the 2015 Spring Street Resurfacing Project with a low bid of $1,634,978.32.
“We anticipate work to commence by May and be finished by August,” says Noriel Noriega, Public Works Supervisor. “We appreciate everyone’s patience while work is being completed.”
