Village of Westmont
Date Issued: July 27, 2015
Per the Village of Westmont contract with Waste Management, residents are allowed to put out one large item with their weekly garbage pick-up at no charge. Examples of large items that are acceptable in this program include chairs, tables, mattresses, box springs, sofas, a roll of carpeting (not to exceed 4 feet in length and 2 feet around), and other items as well. Large items should not exceed 50 pounds.
You may put out more than one large item each week, however, each additional large item will require a refuse sticker, which can be purchased at the Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy Street, at a cost of $1.69 per sticker.
Appliances (stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc.) are not included in the free pick-up program. However, special arrangements can be made through Waste Management for the pick-up of these items at a cost of $25 each.
Construction or remodeling debris require special pick-up arrangements through Waste Management.
No electronic waste can be disposed through our contract with Waste Management as it is prohibited for electronics to be disposed of at a landfill. The Downers Grove Township offers a free monthly electronics recycling program at 318 E. Quincy Street in Westmont, on the third Saturday of each month, 8 a.m. to Noon.
