Village of Westmont
Date Issued: Sept. 9, 2015
Village Safety and Loss Control Coordinator Mike Chorney recently presented the annual IRMA IMAP report to the Village Board. IRMA, Intergovernmental Risk Management Association, is the self-insurance pool in which the Village is a member along with more than 70 other municipalities and public agencies. IMAP stands for IRMA Management Assessment Program, which reviews IRMA members regarding their safety practices and procedures. Chorney reported that while the Village of Westmont has always achieved high IMAP safety scores, this year we were able to secure a perfect score of 100%.
One of the programs that sets Westmont apart from other municipalities is the Health and Wellness Committee, which provides internal incentives for healthy diet and fitness regiment. Successful initiatives that have come from the Health and Wellness Committee include the creation of the St. Jude Race To The Flag 5K fundraiser, a healthy snacks lunchroom program, a lunch and learn lecture series program, an annual Health and Wellness Challenge, and social wellness events such as the annual Village Staff picnic and in-service.
Congratulations to the Executive Safety Committee, Department Safety Committees, and the entire staff for earning this high mark and creating a culture of excellence within our Village Government that makes safety a priority.
