The Westmont Police Department will host an unwanted and expired prescription drug disposal program on Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Westmont Police Department, 500 N. Cass Avenue. The collection will accept pills, patches, and needles that are in a Sharps container. The program will not accept radioactive medicines, liquids, creams, inhalers, or EpiPens.
“This program is designed to provide citizens with an opportunity to safely dispose of old and unwanted prescription drugs,” says Deputy Police Chief Brian Gruen. “The goal of the program is to reduce substance abuse, especially amongst teens, as well as prevent potentially dangerous drugs from entering the fresh water supply.”
Members of the Westmont Police Department and the DEA will receive all medications being delivered to the collection site and will ensure safe disposal of these drugs.
