illage of Westmont
Date Issued: February 13, 2018
While it may not look like it outside, spring is just around the corner! As you prepare for cleaning season, it is important to remember that since 2012, state law has prohibited consumers from throwing out certain electronics with ordinary trash. These items include televisions, computers and computer components (terminals, keyboards, monitors, etc.), video game consoles, CD/DVD/VCR players, and printers.
These restrictions have led to an increase in electronic “fly dumping,” the deliberate dumping of trash in an unauthorized place. While fly dumping is illegal in Westmont and can result in fines of up to $750 if the violator is caught, it ultimately the responsibility of the property owner to remove the deposited item(s). To properly recycle broken or unwanted electronics, there are several options available to Westmont residents. Below is a list of locations and times.
