[ARCHIVED] Westmont and CUSD201 Host Volleyball Fundraiser For Special Olympics

“Last year’s inaugural volleyball tournament was a huge success with $3,000 raised for Illinois Special Olympics,” said Westmont Police Detective Nick Glynn, who is the Westmont School Resource Officer and Vice President for the Westmont Fraternal Order of Police. “This fundraiser between Police, Fire and District 201 is a special event that allows members of the community to meet our first responders and education professionals while raising money for a worthy cause.  We invite the whole community to attend.”

The volleyball fundraiser for Special Olympics will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 7 p.m. at the Westmont High School, 909 Oakwood Drive. The tournament will feature four teams including the Westmont Police Department, Westmont Fire Department, and two teams from CUSD 201. The event is open to the public.  Donations will be accepted at the door and concessions will be available.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle with the winner being selected at halftime. The event will also feature a rhythmic dance routine performed by local Special Olympics athletes. 

The event schedule will be as follows:

7pm - Semi-Finals
- Westmont Fire vs CUSD201 Westmont Senior High Staff
- Westmont Police vs. CUSD201 Westmont Junior High/Elementary Staff

Halftime - Rhythmic Dance Performance

8pm - Finals
- Consolation Match
- Championship Match

“We are excited to once again hold this fun event,” added Westmont Detective Tom Kozielski, President of the FOP. “We look forward to seeing the community come out and show their support for a great cause and meet the first responders and teachers.”
