Village of Westmont
Date Issued: March 20, 2018
CUSD 201’s Westmont Junior High School is creating a new program called “Community Talks: WJHS”. In an effort to promote leadership skills and community engagement, the Jr. High has designed a forum for students and community members to work together on actions to support a safe and connected village. The program will be similar to the successful “Ted Talks” inspirational video series.
At this time, the Westmont Junior High School is inviting community members, staff, and parents to sign up to participate in the event, which will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Westmont Jr. High School, 944 Oakwood Drive in Westmont. A catered dinner will be provided to guests free of charge. Click on the link below to sign up.

Community Talk will create a forum for students and adults to work together on calls-to-action to support a safe and connected village. Over the past few months, student volunteers participated in an enrichment class that asked them to research and identify areas of need within the village and to create a TED-style presentation about their chosen cause. The final forum will consist of a topic presentation and a round table discussion with community members who will assist them in creating action plans for making changes to improve our village.
