The Village of Westmont encourages residents to report vehicle idling concerns to the Westmont Police Department non-emergency number at 630-981-6300.
Village code prohibits commercial vehicles from idling for more than 10 minutes. Additionally, commercial vehicles are prohibited from idling on 61st Street from Cass Avenue to Williams Street, at any time. There are some exceptions for various circumstances, which are listed in the Village Municipal Code link on the Village Website at westmont.illinois.gov.
It is important to try to report the incident while it is in progress so that the concern can be properly addressed. When reporting the violation, please be ready to share the address of the concern as well as a description of the vehicle.
The purpose of the code is to help ensure that residents are not affected by nuisance pollution as well as help the environment by reducing the carbon footprint.
