At approximately 6:40 p.m. on July 4, Westmont Fire Department received a call regarding a reported fire at 515 N. Cass Avenue. Upon arrival, the Fire Department observed smoke and fire coming from the second floor of a three-story, 30-unit apartment building and immediately began fire suppression measures. During operations, fire department rescued one person who was then transported to a local hospital. Also, one firefighter suffered a minor injury during suppression operations. Approximately 7:50 p.m., the Westmont Fire Department struck out the fire. Fire personnel continue to search the scene of the incident and the fire is under investigation.
