[ARCHIVED] Village of Westmont Code Corner - Snow Removal & Unpaved Parking Areas

Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: December 18, 2018

The Westmont Community Development Department is launching a new informational campaign called 'Code Corner'.  With this series, we hope to help and inform everyone of the various codes and guidelines of Westmont.  Look for new installments of 'Code Corner' in each issue of Neighbors of Westmont Magazine.

Tis the season for snow! The Village greatly appreciates the proactive efforts of all our residents, business owners, and property owners to keep our streets, sidewalks, and alleys cleared of snow. Listed below are a few guidelines for all of our residents to follow.

SNOW REMOVAL
Your care and consideration of snow removal and storage are appreciated.  Per code, no owner or occupant of a residence or business shall cause or allow the shoveling, blowing, plowing, hauling, or otherwise depositing snow and ice onto any public street, public sidewalk, or private street, where members of the general public may be expected to travel.  Disregarding this may result in a citation.

UNPAVED PARKING AREAS
Unpaved parking areas, driveways or parking pads constructed from compacted gravel or crushed stone are typically found in older areas of the Westmont. These unpaved areas were built before cement, paver brick or asphalt pavement was required. While a pre-existing unpaved parking area is allowed to be maintained, creating a new parking area or expanding a pre-existing driveway or parking pad of gravel or crushed stone is not per code and is subject to a citation.  All new parking spaces are required to be permitted and paved with cement, paver brick or asphalt pavement.

REPORT-A-CONCERN
To report any concerns, residents may visit our Village website at westmont.illinois.gov and click on the REPORT-A-CONCERN module to file a complaint or report about issues concerning code enforcement, new construction, street, water, and more.  Thank you to all of our active members of the community for helping to keep our village clean and safe.

For more information, please call the Community Development Department at 630-981-6250.
