At the February 28 Village Board Meeting, Steve Riley was sworn in as the new Westmont Fire Chief. He will officially begin his new role on March 2.
"I am extremely honored and blessed to have been chosen to be the next Fire Chief,” said Riley. “I know I have some very big shoes to fill. I look forward to continuing to serve this wonderful community and working with the great people of this Fire Department.”
Steve Riley has worked for the Village of Westmont since May of 1997, starting out as a firefighter. In 2002, he received the Firefighter of the Year Award and was promoted to Lieutenant, and in 2004, became Captain. Riley was promoted to Duty Chief in 2014, and in April of 2015 was hired as a full-time Deputy Fire Chief.
Steve brings a total of 31 years of service to his newly appointed position as Fire Chief. He started out in the fire service in September of 1987 with the Downers Grove Fire Department where his father served as an Assistant Chief for 30 years.
The Village of Westmont congratulates Fire Chief Riley on his new role and looks forward to many more years of excellent service.
