[ARCHIVED] Race to the Flag 5K Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: March 27, 2019

The Westmont Park District’s (WPD) Race to the Flag 5K will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2019.  The race will be held at Ty Warner Park on Sunday, May 26 and will begin at 8 a.m.

“This has been an amazing journey over the last decade, and we’re happy to say that each year, this event gets bigger and better,” said Gregg Pill, who has chaired the RTTF Committee for the past several years. “We are on pace to have our best year ever in terms of sponsorships and race participants.  This is a great event that raises money for the People’s Resource Center, which benefits residents in need throughout the area.”

Since 2016, PRC has been the benefactor of the RTTF fundraiser.  From 2010 to 2015, proceeds from the race went to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.  Over the last decade, RTTF has raised a total of over $75.000.

It is a CARA and USTAF Certified 5K course and a chip timed event.  Prizes will be awarded to the overall men’s and overall women’s winner, as well as the winners in more than a dozen age groups.

Runners and walkers are both welcome at the race and all participants will be treated to a complimentary pancake breakfast after the event. Registration fees vary based on a variety of factors.  Register today at racetotheflag.org.  For additional information, please contact the Westmont Park District at 630-963-5252.
