[ARCHIVED] Cop On A Rooftop May 17 Benefiting Special Olympics

Westmont, Illinois
Date Issued: April 10, 2019

The Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser will take place at participating Dunkin’ Donuts on Friday, May 17. Come out and support Special Olympics Illinois and see your favorite police officer wave hello from the rooftop of Dunkin’ Donuts.

In Westmont, both Dunkin’ Donuts locations, 19 W. 63rd Street and 121 W. Ogden Avenue, will be participating from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Officers and community volunteers will be selling the 2019 Special Olympics Torch Run T-shirts, which lists the Westmont Police Department on the back of the shirt for raising more than $16,000 for Special Olympics Illinois in 2018.

This year marks the 17th Anniversary of the Dunkin’ Donuts Cop on a Rooftop event with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.  This event has been a huge success over the years with more than $4.8 million being raised through this partnership. Special Olympics athletes and their families will join police officers to show their support during the event.

The Westmont Police Department has scheduled several Special Olympic Illinois fundraising events and raffles for the upcoming year.  On April 24, the Westmont Police Department along with CUSD201 is having a volleyball tournament fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. at the Westmont High School, 909 Oakwood Drive.  On May 18, the Police Department will co-host a paper shredding event with Docu-Shred from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Westmont Police Department, 500 N. Cass Avenue.
