Construction Updates
Each year, the Village of Westmont coordinates, schedules, and performs a number of construction updates that improve our community's infrastructure for our residents and businesses.  Also, the County and State perform various construction projects that may impact our community.  This page has been designed to provide information regarding construction projects that will impact the Village of Westmont in the upcoming year.


CBD Alley Reconstruction Project SecC
Contract completion date:  July 2020

Location:  
Central Business District (CBD) Alley bounded by Cass & Lincoln and Naperville & Norfolk

Description:  
Reconstruction of the deteriorated asphalt alley with decorative pervious brick pavers and pervious concrete base for structural stability.  Project also includes storm sewer installation along the alley.  

Updates:

Week ending 03/06/2020
Contractor (RW Dunteman) has completed required soil testing analysis.  Depending on weather, they have indicated that they would like to start work the week of April 6th.  Once a firm date is established, Construction Notices shall be hand-delivered to residents and businesses.

Week ending 11/22/2019 (Project on HOLD until weather allows in Spring 2020).
Nicor wrapping up their Gas Main Relocation.  Alley is a little 'bumpy' where Nicor promised to address.  Public Works staff will also follow-up over the next couple of weeks and help smooth the issues and prepare for the winter season.

Week ending 10/18/2019
Nicor continuing Gas Main Relocations construction.  With overnight temperatures hovering near 40 degrees and no firm completion date from Nicor for their work, Public Works staff has decided to place a hold on the Alley Reconstruction Project until Spring of 2020.  Notices shall be distributed to all residents and businesses affected by the project.  When a firm re-start date is established, a separate construction notice shall be distributed.

Nicor continuing Gas Main Relocations construction.  

Week ending 10/04/2019

Nicor continuing Gas Main Relocations construction.  We are awaiting completion of their work prior to the Village's Alley Reconstruction Project beginning.

Week ending 09/27/2019
Nicor continuing Gas Main Relocations construction.  Notice of Construction for the Village's alley project has been delivered to all residents and businesses affected.  Waste Management has setup Community Garbage and Recycling containers along Norfolk near the alley entrance and at the rear parking lot of Neat (246 N Cass).

Week ending 09/20/2019
Pre-Construction meeting held on 09/19/2019.  Nicor is scheduled to begin Gas Main Relocation next week.  RW Dunteman anticipates beginning construction of the alley mid-end October.  Public Works staff will hand-deliver Notice of Construction to residents and businesses next week.

Week ending 09/13/2019
Village Board awarded contract to RW Dunteman at the Village Board Meeting held on 09/12/2019.  We will finalize contracts and schedule Pre-Construction Meeting shortly.

Week ending 08/30/2019

The alley project was successfully let on 08/27/2019 with the apparent low bidder RW Dunteman.  We are reviewing the bid documents.  Since the CBD Alley Program began, RW Dunteman completed the construction of Sections A, B, and F.  Staff will make a recommendation to the Village Board at the next available meeting.


2020 North Washington Watermain Replacement Project
Contract completion date:  August 2020

Locations:  
Washington Street between Naperville and Burlington

Description:  
Replacement of 2,000 feet of existing deteriorated 6" cast iron watermain with new 8" PVC watermain.  New fire hydrants and services shall be installed along with other related miscellaneous improvements.  

Updates:

Week ending 03/06/2020
Awaiting completion of the contracts by all parties.  A Pre-Construction Meeting shall be scheduled shortly.

Week ending 02/28/2020
LUC Group's Bid Proposal was awarded at the Village Board Meeting on February 27th.  

Week ending 02/14/2020
On February 11th, the Village received 9 bids for the project.  LUC Group is the low bidder with a low bid of $429,100.00 (approximately 39% below the Engineer's Estimate).  Bid proposal has been reviewed and a recommendation to award will be on a future Village Board agenda.


2020 Gateway Ogden Avenue Beautification Project
Contract completion date:  July 2020

Locations:  
Median along Ogden Avenue (Route 34) between Pasquinelli and Oakwood
Gateway Sign at Ogden and Pasquinelli
Gateway Sign at Ogden and Cumnor
Gateway Sign at Cass Avenue and 67th Street

Description:  
Installation of a landscape raised median along Ogden Avenue between Pasquinelli Drive and Oakwood Drive.  Landscape median shall include trees, landscaping, sprinkler and electrical system.  New gateway signage shall be installed at 3 locations: Ogden/Pasquinelli, Ogden/Cumnor, and Cass/67th. 

Updates:

Week ending 02/28/2020
Project received 8 bids on February 25th.  The low bidder was A-Lamp Concrete Contractors with a low bid of $584,798.90 (approximately 27% lower than the Engineer's Estimate).  Awarding of the contract will be presented to the Village Board on March 12th.


2018-2019 MFT Street Resurfacing Project
Contract completion date:  June 2020

Locations:  
Cass Avenue between Ogden and Chicago
Park Street between 55th and Quincy

Description:  
Resurfacing of approximately two (2) miles of roadways at various locations throughout the Village.  Project will include surface grinding, base repairs, curb and gutter repairs, sidewalk repairs and ADA improvements, storm sewer rehab, along with other miscellaneous work.

Week ending 02/28/2020
Revised Bid Documents have been prepared.  Awaiting final approvals from Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).  Anticipate a March 2020 bid letting.

Week ending 09/13/2019
Bid opening held on 09/10/2019 was unsuccessful.  We received five (5) bids with the low bidder at approximately $155k over budget.  Staff is recommending rejection of all bids and we will review options for a re-bid in March 2020.



61st and Richmond Stormwater Detention Modification Project
Contract completion date:  Fall 2020

Location:  
Detention basin located at the northwest corner of 61st Street and Richmond Avenue in the Ashford Subdivision

Description:  
The Village and the Park District are working together to improve the existing detention facility.  Work shall include grading of the basin to provide additional detention volume, correct grading issues to address standing water concerns, upgrade storm sewer pipes within facility, and provide water quality Best Management Practices (BMP)  to comply with current DuPage County Stormwater Ordinances.  The Village was successful in obtaining over $51k in grant funding from the County's Water Quality Improvement Program (WQIP).

The project is currently in design.  More information shall follow shortly.


63rd and Richmond Stormwater Detention Modification Project
Contract completion date:  Fall 2020

Location:  
Detention basin located at the northwest corner of 63rd Street and Richmond Avenue in the Ashford Subdivision

Description:  
The Village and the Park District are working together to improve the existing detention facility.  Work shall include stabilization of the eroding side slopes, correct failing storm sewer outlets, and provide water quality Best Management Practices (BMP)  to comply with current DuPage County Stormwater Ordinances.  The Village will also install a new Gateway Monument along 63rd Street as part of this project.

The project is currently in design.  More information shall follow shortly.


Deer Creek Detention Modification Project
Contract completion date:  Fall 2020

Location:  
Detention basins located at the north section of Deer Creek Subdivision.

Description:  
The Village and the Park District are working together to improve the existing detention facility.  Work shall include grading of the basin to provide additional detention volume, correct grading issues to address standing water concerns, and provide water quality Best Management Practices (BMP)  to comply with current DuPage County Stormwater Ordinances.  

The project is currently in design.  More information shall follow shortly.
